Last weekend was a busy one for the club with out 1st, 3rd and 4th teams all in action, as well as matches for some of our juvenile teams.
Saturday saw our 1st team play in the first round of this year's Alan Murray Cup, with two matches against Balbriggan and The Hills.
In the first match, 52 off 37 balls from Jamie Grassi and 47 from Yassar Cook saw us post a competitive total of 160-4 off our 20 overs. However, Balbriggan chased it down comfortably with 11 balls to spare, for the loss of just one wicket which taken by Jonathan Andrews. Connor Fletcher hit 61 from just 33 balls and Clinton Hinchliffe scored a run-a-ball 54 to see Balbriggan to victory.
Batting first once again in the second game, 30 from opener Andrew Sheridan and 43 from 34 balls from skipper Andrews helped us to 127-9. Sean Sludds set the tone early on with the ball taking 2-17 off his three overs and Cian Mulvaney took the first of his three wickets with the new ball to give County a very good start. Jono Andrews also took three wickets and Yassar Cook and Owen Graham contributed with one each and The Hills lost wickets regularly. Cian Mulvaney finished the match off by bowling Naseer Shoukat to seal a win by 25 runs.
Back at Inch, our 3rd team also took on The Hills in their Division 9 encounter on Saturday. Nithin Thambi was the stand out player, scoring his first hundred for the club, as we scored 287 off our 45 overs batting first. A disciplined bowling performance helped secure a home victory.
For the second time this season, our 4th team made a trip to Druids Glen to face Greystones, this time in the league. Steady contributions from Foram Mehta and Srini Yerramsetti, as well as some runs down the order from Keegan Laing saw County post 172-9 off 40 overs. Paddy Mann delivered two wickets in his opening spell and a run out from Daniel Mooney saw the home side three down early on. Mooney then came on to take three wickets himself, while Zia Mohyuddin and Ryan Graham took two apiece to secure a comfortable win.
Sunday also saw our girls team register a win over Merrion by 19 runs. Anna and Zoe made their North County debuts in what was a very enjoyable match played in great spirits by all!
Well done to all the players and coaches involved.
